BW Men's Basketball Wins Sixth Straight in Victory against Capital

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball team won its sixth straight game as the Yellow Jackets defeated Capital University in an Ohio Athletic Conference game by a final score of 78-63 in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center.

BW (10-3, 4-2 OAC) had four players score in double figures led by freshman guard Cameron Kuhn (Vermilion) with a game-high 17 points. Kuhn, who knocked down 4-of-4 from the foul line, has made 23 consecutive from the charity stripe. Senior guard Justin Roth (Parma) and senior forward Matt Dennis (Spring Hill, Fla. /Nature Coast Technical) each tallied 15 points while junior guard Zach Warner (Clyde) contributed 10 off the bench.

Capital (4-9, 2-4 OAC) was led by junior guard Charles English with 12 points. Sophomore guard Drew Fecko and freshman guard Brennan Czuchran each added 10 points. Senior center Andrew Bolka scored nine points and grabbed a game-best 10 rebounds.

In the first half, the Yellow Jackets jumped out to a 17-9 lead when Warner knocked down a three-pointer at the 13:04 mark. BW used a 22-12 run to take a first-half tying lead of 18 points at 39-21 when Kuhn scored on a layup at 2:05. Capital outscored the Yellow Jackets 4-2 the remainder of the half but trailed 41-25 at the intermission.

The Crusaders opened the second half on a 10-2 run to cut the lead down to eight points at 43-35 when Adam Blake knocked down a pair of technical foul free throws and Bolka made it four straight from the charity stripe at the 16:46 mark. BW responded with a 10-0 run to push the lead back to 18 points at 53-35 on triple by Warner at 13:51.

Capital would come no closer than 13 points on two occasions over the remainder of the game at 75-63 on a layup by Fecko at the 2:14 mark. The Yellow Jackets pushed its lead to as many as 19 points at 68-49 on jumper by Warner at 7:08.

BW returns to action on Wednesday, January 14 when it travels to Tiffin for an OAC game against Heidelberg University in the Seiberling Gymnasium at 7:30 p.m. The next home game is on Saturday, January 17 when the Yellow Jackets host an OAC game against Ohio Northern University at 3 p.m.
