Four Yellow Jackets Score in Double Figures in Win Against Bethany (W. Va.)

BEREA, Ohio – Four Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball players scored in double figures as the Yellow Jackets defeated Bethany (W. Va.) College in non-conference action by a final score of 77-58 in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center.

BW (7-3) was led by freshman guard Cameron Kuhn (Vermilion) as he scored a game and career-high 15 points and grabbed a career-best tying six rebounds.  Senior guard Justin Roth (Parma) for recorded 14 points and grabbed a game and career-high seven rebounds.   Sophomore forward Jake Fetherolf(Norwalk) tallied 12 and senior forward Matt Dennis (Spring Hill, Fla. /Nature Coast Technical) contributed 11.

Bethany (6-6) was led by freshman guard Calique Jones with 14 points.  Junior forward Darrian Bruster recorded 12 and sophomore center Andres Herrero had 10 points, all of which he scored in the first half.

The Yellow Jackets opened the game on a 10-2 run when Fetherolf knocked down a pair of free throws at the 16:46 mark.  The Bisons responded with a 6-4 run to cut the lead down to 14-8 when Pedro Lalor hit both from the charity stripe at 15:28.  BW then used a 10-2 run to push the lead to 14 points at 24-10 when junior guard Brandon Gleim (Hilliard/Davidson) buried a triple from the corner at the 9:52 mark.

Bethany used a 12-5 run to cut the lead down to 29-22 when Yuki Yashiro scored on a layup at 5:47.   The Bisons outscored the Yellow Jackets 10-8 down the stretch but trailed 37-32 at the intermission.

BW opened the second half on a 9-2 run to push the lead to 46-34 when sophomore guard/forward Jaelen Hollinger (Akron/Archbishop Hoban) scored on a layup at the 17:05 mark.  The Yellow Jackets used a 12-8 run to push its lead to a game-high tying 16 points when Dennis scored on a layup at 10:21.

Bethany would come no closer than 12 points at 60-48 on a layup by Jones at the 8:35 mark.  BW increased its lead to as many as 19 points at 77-58 when Kuhn hit a pair of free throws with 46 seconds remaining.

The Yellow Jackets next travel to Boston, Massachusetts on Monday, January 5 for a non-conference game against NAIA Fisher College in the Fectau-Leary Gymnasium at 5 p.m.  BW remains in Massachusetts as they travel to Chestnut Hill for a non-conference game against NCAA Division III first-year program Pine Manor College on Tuesday, January 6 in the Pine Manor Gymnasium at 1 p.m.

The Yellow Jackets return to the friendly confines of the Ursprung Gym on Saturday, January 10 when they return to Ohio Athletic Conference action and host Capital University at 3 p.m.
