Today's Contest
Today is the second game of the 2023 season, the second of six home games and the first Ohio Athletic Conference game for Baldwin Wallace University football team as it hosts Wilmimngton College on Hall of Fame Weekend. BW opened the season with a 46-33 defeat to Mount St. Joseph University last saturday in Berea.  Wilmington defeated The College of Wooster by a final score of 63-43.

The Series
BW and Wilmington have met 23 times on the gridiron with the Yellow Jackets holding an 20-3 series lead, including 13 straight victories. The two teams did not meet in 2021 spring COVID-19 shortened OAC season. During the 13 game winning streak, BW has outscored the Quakers, 548-168. The series began in 1922 with Wilmington defeating the Yellow Jackets, 16-7, in Berea. The last Wilmington win came in 2008 when it beat the Yellow Jackets, 27-21, in Wilmington.

BW Head Coach Jim Hilvert
Hilvert is in his seventh  season at BW and has a record of  36-17 and Ohio Athletic Conference slate of 30-15. He is 103-43 in his 15th overall season.   Hilvert is 5-0 against Wilmington.

Wilmington Head Coach Corey Fillipovich  
Fillipovich is in his second season at Wilmington and has a record of 4-7 and an OAC mark of 2-7.  He is 0-2 vs. Baldwin Wallace after serving as interim coach in the fall of 2021.

Last Game vs. Wilmington -- September 10,  2022
BW scored 13 points on 173 yards rushing and 57 yards passing for 230 total yards.  Wilmington scored 12 points on 187 yards passing and 28 yards rushing for 215 total yards. 

Scouting the Yellow Jackets
In week one of the season, BW scored 33 points on 391 yards passing and 135 yards rushing for 526 total yards.  Mount St. Joseph scored 46 points on 420 yards passing and 116 yards rushing for 536 total yards. Senior quarterback Joey Marousek (North Royalton) was named the BW Shrine Classic Player of the Game.

BW Leaders
Offensively, Marousek has completed 25-of-43 passes for 391 yards with two touchdowns. Junior  running back Victor Ford, Jr. (Cleveland/Shaker Heights) leads the ground game with 17 carries for 78 yards with one touchdown.  Sophomore wide reciever Connor Awad (Grafton/Midview) leads the receiving unit with five catches for 153 yards. Defensively, senior linebacker Connor Miller (Boardman) has tallied seven tackles, inlcuding 1.5 for loss.

Scouting the Quakers
In week one of the season, Wilmington scored 63 points on 384 yards rushing and 199 yards passing for 583 total yards.  Wooster scored 43 points on 335 yards passing and 29 yards rushing for 364 total yards.

Wilmington Leaders
Offensively, senior quarterback Derek Larimer has completed 12-of-21 passes for 168 yards with five touchdowns.  Sophomore running back Nehemiah Jenkins has rushed for 194 yards on 28 carries with one touchdown. Senior wide reciever Lathan Jones has caught five passes for 145 yards and three touchdowns.  Defensively, senior defensive back Quentin Davis has recorded nine tackles  and one pass breakup.

Hall of Fame Game
Today, BW will induct the eight newest members of its Athletics Alumni Association Hall of Fame. The newest inductees will be introduced to the Finnie Stadium crowd between the first and second quarters.

Battle for Cuyahoga Gold Bowl Trophy
The 35th Battle for Cuyahoga Gold Bowl Trophy is set for September 16 when BW and John Carroll face off in the Yellow Jackets second OAC contest of the season.  John Carroll leads the Cuyahoga Gold Bowl Trophy series by a margin of 20-13, including winning 10 straight. The last Yellow Jacket victory came in the 2012 season when BW posted a 32-28 victory in University Heights.

Community Day & Homecoming
BW will host its Community Day and Homecoming on the same day in a Bold and Gold Festival on Saturday, September 30 as the Yellow Jackets host Marietta College at 2:00 p.m.

For the 12th season, BW will live web stream all of its home contests.  The pregame show generally starts 10 minutes prior to kickoff.
