Football Picked Third in OAC Coaches Preseason Poll

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University football team was picked to finish third in the 2023 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Coaches Preseason Poll.

BW, who was picked second a season ago and finished in third place, was selected third with one first place vote and 66 points by the league's coaches.  Defending OAC Champion the University of Mount Union was the unanimous first place choice with 81 points and nine first place votes.  Crosstown rival John Carroll University was slated second with 70 points and Heidelberg University was tabbed fourth third with 59 points. Rounding out the top five was Marietta College with 47 points.

The Yellow Jackets and seventh-year head coach Jim Hilvert return 53 letterwinners, 15 starters, four All-OAC players and seven Academic All-OAC selections from last year's squad that  that finished with overall record of 7-3 and a 7-2 mark in the league.

BW opens the 2023 season with three straight home contests beginning with its lone non-conference game and the 45th Lee Tressel Shrine Classic on Saturday, September 2 against Mount St. Joseph University.   The Yellow Jackets then host Wilmington College in the Hall of Fame game on September 9 and close out the opening three-game home stand against crosstown rival John Carroll University in the 35th Battle for the Gold Bowl Trophy on September 16.
