WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference football linebacker Mason Levasseur (Panama City, Fla./South Walton) has been named the OAC Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career.

Levasseur earns his first weekly honor after recording a game-high and career-high tying 13 tackles with a sack, tackle for loss, fumble recovery and a 68-yard interception return for a touchdown as time expired in BW's 34-22 victory over Muskingum University last Saturday.   His interception return for a touchdown was his first collegiate score.

This season, Levasseur leads the team and is second in the OAC with 62 tackles.  He has recorded four tackles for a loss, one quarterback sack, one interception, one pass breakup, one quarterback hurry and one fumble recovery.  Levasseur was named the Dick Miller Homecoming Defensive Player of the Game on September 30.

For his career, Levasseur has appeared in 23 games and has recorded 197 tackles, including 17 tackles for a loss.  He has five quarterback sacks, broken up six passes, recovered three fumbles, and intercepted two passes.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, October 21 when they travel to Westerville for an OAC game against Otterbein University at 12:30 p.m.
