Today's Contest
Today is the third game of the 2023 season, the third of six home games and the second Ohio Athletic Conference game for the Baldwin Wallace University football team as it hosts crosstown rival John Carroll University int the 35th Cuyahoga Gold Bowl Game. BW defeated Wilmington College by a final score 61-25 in the OAC opener last Saturday in Berea. John Carroll, who was idle last week, fell to No. 11 nationally ranked University of Wisconsin at Whitewater in wwek one by a final score of 27-23.
The Series
BW and John Carroll have met 62 times on the gridiron. The Blue Streaks lead the all-time series 33-25-4. The series began in 1923 when John Carroll defeated BW, 19-13. Three notable names who have taken part in this series, BW graduate and College Football Hall of Famers Lee Tressel '48 and Jim Tressel '75 and John Carroll grad and Pro Football Hall of Famer Don Shula.
Cuyahoga Gold Bowl Trophy Series
John Carroll leads the Cuyahoga Gold Bowl Trophy series by a margin of 21-13, including winning 10 straight. The last Yellow Jacket victory came in the 2012 season when BW posted a 32-28 victory in University Heights. The Yellow Jackets scored 15 points in the final nine minutes to rally for the victory.

Hilvert is in his seventh season at BW and has a record of 37-17 and Ohio Athletic Conference slate of 31-15. He is 104-43 in his 15th overall season. Hilvert is 1-7 all-time against John Carroll

Behram is in hois first season at John Carroll and has a record of 0-1 and an OAC mark of 0-0. He is 42-21 in his seventh overall season

BW scored seven points on 222 yards passing and 120 yards rushing for 342 total yards. John Carroll scored 21 points on 157 yards passing and 157 yards rushing for 314 total yards.
Scouting the Yellow Jackets
In week two of the season, BW scored 61points on 295 yards rushing and 183 yards passing for 478 total yards. Wilmington scored 25 points on 276 yards passing and 163 yards rushing for 439 total yards.
BW Leaders
Offensively, senior quarterback Joey Marousek (North Royalton) has completed 37-of-65 passes for 570 yards with five touchdowns touchdowns. Junior running back Victor Ford, Jr. (Cleveland/Shaker Heights) leads the ground game with 160 yards on 29 carries with two touchdowns. Senior wide reciever Darius Stokes (Canton/GlenOak) leads the receiving unit with nine catches for 139 yards with one touchdown. Defensively, senior All-OAC linebacker Mason Levasseur (Panama City, Fla./South Walton) has recorded 13 tackles.
Scouting the Blue Streaks
In week one of the season, John Carroll scored 23 points on 175 yards rushing and 160 yards passing for 335 total yards. Wisconsin-Whitewater scored 27 points on 276 yards passing and 232 yards rushing for 508 total yards.
John Carroll Leaders
Offensively, senior All-OAC quarterback Joe Collins has completed 17-of-29 passes for 160 yards with three touchdowns. Senior running back Matthew Buser has rushed for 96 yards on 15 carries. Senior All-OAC wide reciever Brennan Fugh has caught three passes for 44 yards with one touchdown. Defensively, senior defensive back junior defensive back Chris Golson, senior All-OAC linebacker Jahiem Peake, senior All-OAC defensive lineman Bricker Thiel and senior Academic All-OAC linebacker Tyler Thimons have recorded seven tackles.
Community Day & Homecoming
BW will host its Community Day and Homecoming on the same day in a Bold and Gold Festival on Saturday, September 30 as the Yellow Jackets host Marietta College at 2:00 p.m.
