Football Cages Cardinals, Earns First Shutout Victory Since 2016

WESTERVILLE, Ohio -- The Baldwin Wallace University football team won its second straight road game as it shutout Otterbein University in an Ohio Athletic Conference game by a final score of 24-0 inside Memorial Stadium.

BW (4-3, 4-2 OAC), who earned its first shutout victory since the 2016 season when it defeated Defiance College 42-0, improved to 41-12-1 in the all-time series with Otterbein (0-7, 0-6 OAC).  The Yellow Jackets have now won the five meetings and have outscored the Cardinals, 178-55, during that stretch.

Offensively for BW, senior quarterback Joey Marousek (North Royalton) completed 11-of-19 passes for 102 yards.  Marousek led seven rushers with a career-high 91 yards on a career-best 12 carries with one touchdown.  Junior wide receiver Mikel Love (Fort Pierce, Fla./Westwood) led seven different pass catchers with three receptions for 23 yards.  Defensively, All-OAC linebacker Mason Levasseur (Panama City, Fla./South Walton), who is this week's OAC Defensive Player of the Week, recorded eight tackles, a quarterback sack and two pass breakups.

Offensively for Otterbein, freshman quarterback Cayden Lassiter completed 12-of-25 passes for 106 yards.  Junior running back Fanny Uwishimwe rushed for 32 yards on 14 carries.  Freshman wide receiver Vincent Berardi caught three passes for 43 yards.  Defensively, junior defensive back Randy Cochran, Jr. tallied a game-high 12 tackles.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action when they return home for their first of their final two home games on Saturday, October 28 when they host an OAC and Parents' and Family Day game against Capital University on the Tressel Field inside the George Finnie Stadium at 1:30 p.m.
