Women’s Tennis Drops Non-Conference Match to Wooster

OBERLIN, Ohio -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team fell to the College of Wooster by a final score of 7-2 inside the Heisman Fieldhouse on the campus of Oberlin College.

Wooster (2-3), who snapped a three-match losing skid, gained an early 3-0 advantage after it captured all three doubles BW (1-2) came close to taking one doubles match but the tandem of sophomore All-OAC player Imani Robinson (Cincinnati /School for Creative & Performing Arts) and freshman Liz Radkiewicz (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) dropped a hard-fought match by a score of 9-8 and 7-4 in the tiebreaker.

The Fighting Scots took four of six singles matches but the Yellow Jackets won the final two matches of the night at fifth and sixth singles.   Junior Shannon Finkenthal (Beachwood) picked the victory at fifth singles in three sets by scores of 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 and 10-6 in the tiebreaker.  Senior Hayley Geronimo (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) captured sixth singles in three sets and two tie breakers by scores of 6-2, 6-7 with a 4-7 tiebreaker and 1-0 with a 10-8 tiebreaker.

BW is back in action on Sunday, March 5 when it takes on Bridgewater (Va.) College in the first match of its annual spring break trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina at 2 p.m.  The Yellow Jackets will also face NAIA Spring Arbor (Mich.) University, Lebanon Valley (Pa.) College, Roanoke (Va.) College and Nebraska Wesleyan University during the trip.
