Women’s Tennis Splits a Pair of Matches on Third Day of Hilton Head Action

HILTON, HEAD, S.C -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team split pair of matches on the third day of its annual spring break trip. 

BW (3-4) opened the day by falling to NAIA Spring Arbor (Mich.) University by a final score of 5-0 at the Palmetto Dunes Tennis Center.  The match between the Yellow Jackets and the Cougars, which was but was suspended due to rain on Tuesday afternoon, was determined by the first team reaching five points before weather forced the matched to be called.   In the second match of the day, BW defeated Lebanon Valley (Pa.) College by a final score of 8-1 at the Shipyard Racquet Club. 

Against Spring Arbor, the third doubles team of junior Kelly Peskura (Strongsville) and sophomore Kathleen Moser (Strongsville) had the closest match as they fell by a score of 9-7.  In singles play, five of six matches were on the court when the matched was called.  Sophomore All-OAC player Imani Robinson (Cincinnati /School for Creative & Performing Arts) had the closest match as she dropped her match by scores of 6-1 and 6-3.

In the match with Lebanon Valley, the Yellow Jackets won all three doubles matches and five of six singles matches.  Robinson and freshman Liz Radkiewicz (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) claimed first doubles by a score of 8-0.  Senior Claire Watts (Medina/Highland) and freshman Emily Dahnert (Charlottesville, Va. /The Covenant School) took second doubles by a score of 8-0.  Peskura and Moser earned the win at third doubles by a score of 8-1.   In singles action, Robinson earned the win at first singles by scores of 6-0 and 7-5.  Watts claimed second singles by scores of 6-3 and 6-1.  Radkiewicz took third singles by identical scores of 6-3.  Peskura picked up the victory at fourth singles by scores of 6-0 and 6-1.  Junior Kayla Eeg (Waterford, Pa./General McLane) by identical scores of 6-4.

BW is back in action on Wednesday, March 7 when it takes on Roanoke (Va.) College at the Evian Tennis Center at 8:30 a.m.
