MARIETTA, Ohio -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis won its first Ohio Athletic Conference match of the season as it defeated Marietta College by a final score of 8-1 at the Beren Tennis Center.
BW (5-8, 1-2 OAC), who snapped a three-match losing skid, won all three doubles matches to take the 3-0 lead. Sophomore All-OAC player Imani Robinson (Cincinnati/School for Creative & Performing Arts) and freshman Liz Radkiewicz (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) took first doubles by a score of 8-6. Senior Academic All-OAC player Claire Watts and freshman Emily Dahnert (Charlottesville, Va. / The Covenant School) captured second doubles by a score of 8-0. Juniors Kelly Peskura (Strongsville) and Shannon Finkenthal (Beachwood) earned the victory at third doubles by a score of 8-0.
The Yellow Jackets took five of six singles matches from Marietta (0-14, 0-3 OAC) to secure the victory. Watts brought home the win at second singles by identical scores of 6-0. Radkiewicz secured third singles by scores of 6-4 and 6-2. Peskura captured fourth singles by identical scores of 6-0. Dahnert picked up the victory at fifth singles by identical scores of 6-0. Senior Hayley Geronimo (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) rounded out the match by winning sixth singles by scores of 6-1 and 6-0.
BW is back in action on Sunday, April 9 when it hosts a rescheduled OAC match against the University of Mount Union on the Pop Collins Tennis Courts at 1 p.m.
