Achladis Receives USTFCCCA All-Academic Honor

NEW ORLEANS – Baldwin Wallace University sophomore All-Ohio Athletic Conference thrower Ted Achladis (Avon Lake/Elyria Catholic) has earned United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Honors, as announced by the organization Thursday morning.

To qualify for the honor, a student-athlete must have at least a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 and above and also met one of the following standards:

  • Have competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship
  • Finished the regular season ranked in the national top-50 in an individual event or ranked in the national top-35 in a relay event on the official NCAA Descending Order List.

Achladis garners his second straight USTFCCCA All-Academic accolade with a 3.84 GPA in middle childhood education. The sophomore was a three-time All-OAC performer and the conference champion in shot put. Achladis also finished ninth in discus and 16th in shot put in his first appearance at the NCAA Championships. He is a four-time USTFCCCA All-Great Lakes Region selection, a Dean's List student and an Academic All-OAC honoree.

The Yellow Jackets finished the 2018 campaign with a seventh-place finish at the OAC Indoor Championships and a sixth-place mark at the OAC Outdoor Championships.
