Achladis Wins OAC Title, Men's Outdoor Track and Field Team Finishes Sixth at OAC Championships

ADA, Ohio -- Sophomore All-Ohio Athletic Conference thrower Ted Achladis (Avon Lake/Elyria Catholic) won his first OAC title to lead the men's outdoor track and field team to a sixth place finish at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Ohio Northern University inside Kerscher Stadium.  

The top three individuals and the top three relay teams are recognized as All-Ohio Athletic Conference.

BW was sixth of 10 teams with 53 points.   The University of Mount Union won its eighth straight championship with 212 points.

The Yellow Jackets were led by Achladis and freshman distance runner Josh Hickmott (Clay, N.Y./Liverpool) as the duo earned All-OAC accolades for the second straight day.  Achladis won the shot put with a career-best mark of 53 feet and 1.5 inches to earn his second All-OAC honor of the championships.  He also finished eighth in the hammer throw with a mark of 147'5".  Hickmott earned his second All-OAC honor of the championships with his runner-up finish in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:08.71.   He was also fifth in the 1,500-meter run in a time of 4:04.51 

In addition, freshman junior hurdler Brandon Cole (Vermilion) took eighth in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 57.32 seconds.

In relay action, the 4x100-meter team of Cole, sophomore Kris Hart (Van Wert), freshman Peter Rosado (Haydenville/Logan) and freshman Dale Booker (Winter Haven, Fla./All Saints Academy) placed fourth in a time of 43.54.   The 4x400-meter squad of Cole, freshman Matt Floyd (Hamilton/Cincinnati Christian), junior Noah Kendrick (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) and Rosado took eighth in a time of 3:29.58 

BW is back in action on Friday, May 11 when it hosts the Harrison Dillard Twilight Meet inside George Finnie Stadium at 2 p.m.
