Men's Outdoor Track and Field Finishes Eighth at All-Ohio Meet

DELAWARE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's outdoor track and field team used two All-Ohio performances toward a top-10 finishe in the All-Ohio Outdoor Championships, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University at the George Gauthier Track.

The Yellow Jacket men were eighth of 19 teams with 39 total points while Ohio Wesleyan was the Outdoor All-Ohio champion with 116.5 points.

On the track, junior distance runner Spencer Mahon (North Royalton) got the scoring for the Yellow Jacket men started with a fourth-place finish in the 10,000-meter in a career-best time of 34:03.00, improving on his previous career best by 20 seconds. Sophomore distance runner Isaac Wilson (Tylersburg, Pa./North Clarion) and freshman distance runner Andrew Krupp (Ottawa Hills) finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in the same race in times of 34:19.35 and 34:20.28, respectively. Freshman distance runner Josh Hickmott (Clay, N.Y./Liverpool) won the 5,000-meter run in 15:18.71 to earn his second career All-Ohio honor and the first of his outdoor career while fellow freshman distance runner Jose Reynoso (Painesville/Harvey) placed ninth in 15:45.28. Hickmott also brought home a fourth-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a career-best 9:29.56.

In the field, sophomore All-OAC thrower Ted Achladis (Avon Lake/Elyria Catholic) won the discus throw with a mark of 161 feet, 1 inch to earn his first career All-Ohio honor, indoor or outdoor. The sophomore then followed it up with a seventh place finish in the shot put, hitting a mark of 49'3". Freshman jumper Alex Dempsey (Madison) took fifth in the long jump when he hit a career-best mark of 21'4.25".

BW will be back in action on Saturday, April 21, when the Yellow Jackets host the 49th Annual Sparky Adams Invitational. Field events will begin at 11 a.m. and running events will start at 12 p.m.
