Men's Indoor Track and Field Ties for Seventh at Mid-February Meet

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's indoor track and field team tied for seventh in the annual Mid-February Meet on the Harrison Dillard Track inside the Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse.

The BW men tied for seventh out of 16 teams with 47 points while West Virgina Wesleyan was the winner with 106.5 points.

On the men's side, freshmen jumpers Alex Dempsey (Madison) and Peter Rosado (Haydenville/Logan) had career-best leaps of 21 feet, 0.5 inches and 20'3.5", respectively, to place third and seventh, respectively. Sophomore thrower Ted Achladis (Avon Lake/Elyria Catholic) took fourth in the weight throw with a career-best toss of 48'10".

In distance, junior distance runner Spencer Mahon (North Royalton) and freshman distance runner Andrew Krupp (Ottawa Hills) placed first and third in their heat of the 3,000-meter event, running career best times of 9:22.52 and 9:23.75, respectively. Sophomore distance runner Nick Irwin (Westlake) placed eighth overall in the 3,000 in a career-best time of 9:16.06 while Mahon finished ninth overall.  Freshman Spencer Roberts (Buffalo, N.Y./West Seneca West) won his heat of the 1-mile event in 4:51.31 and finished sixth overall. In his first 1,000-meter event of the year, Roberts came in fourth in a time of 2:54.38.

In both the 55-meter semifinals and finals, sophomore sprinter Deion Greer (Toledo/Central Catholic) ran a time of 6.69 seconds, finishing as the runner-up in the finals. Junior sprinter Brandon Cole (Vermillion) took second in the 200-meter dash in a career-best time of 23.28 seconds.

BW will be back in action tomorrow, February 10, at the Division III All-Ohio Indoor Championships, hosted by Otterbein University inside the Clement Recreation Center.
