Leverette Breaks School Record for Second Straight Week at All-Ohio Championships

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Junior All-American Jordan Leverette (Cleveland/John Adams) broke the Baldwin Wallace University 60-meter dash school record as the men's indoor track and field team competed at the Division III All-Ohio Indoor Championships, hosted by Otterbein University inside the Clement Recreation Center.

The BW men tied for fourth of 18 teams with 54 total points while the University of Mount Union was the men's All-Ohio champion with 143 points. 

In the 60-meter dash preliminaries Leverette had the top time, running 6.98 seconds which was just 0.01 seconds off his career best. It was in the 60-meter dash finals that Leverette broke the school record, winning the event in 6.84 seconds and earning his first All-Ohio honors in the 60-meter dash in the process. The junior now holds four current school records in the 60, the 200-meter dash, the 400-meter dash and the 4x400-meter relay. Leverette also earned his second career Indoor All-Ohio honors by winning the 200-meter dash in 22.09 seconds.

Senior All-OAC thrower Zak Dysert (McDonald, Pa./Fort Cherry) also earned Indoor All-Ohio honors, the second of his career, by winning the weight throw event with a mark of 58 feet, 3 inches. Sophomore thrower Ted Achladis (Avon Lake/Elyria Catholic) took fourth in the shot put with a career-best 50'3.5" toss.

In the men's 5,000-meter event, freshman distance runner Josh Hickmott (Clay, N.Y./Liverpool) went from sixth place to second place in the final 400 meters to earn All-Ohio honors in a career-best time of 15:31.73. In other distance events, freshman Jose Reynoso (Painesville/Harvey) took sixth in the 3,000-meter in a career-best time of 9:01.35 while freshman Matt Floyd (Hamilton/Cincinnati Christian) placed seventh in the 800-meter run in a career-best 2:00.42.

BW will be back in action on Saturday, February 17, when the Yellow Jackets travel to Alliance to compete in the Raider Tune Up, hosted by Mount Union inside The McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.
