Men's Indoor Track and Field Sixth On Day One of OAC Championships

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's indoor track and field team stands sixth after the first day of competition at the Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships on the Harrison Dillard Track inside the Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse.

BW is sixth of 10 teams with 14 points.  Four-time defending champion University of Mount Union leads after day one with 62.50 points.

The top three individuals and the top three relay teams earn All-OAC honors.

The Yellow Jackets were led by senior All-OAC vaulter Johnathon Spilker (Solon) and junior All-OAC thrower Cody Smith (Port Clinton) as each earned All-OAC honors with third place finishes.  Spilker took third in the pole vault for the second straight season as he had a vault of 14 feet and 11.50 inches.   Smith was third in the shot put for the second consecutive season with a mark of 52'2".

In relay action, the distance medley team of sophomore Spencer Mahon (North Royalton), freshman Jesse Kucewicz (Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster Central), sophomore Phil Spronz (Strongsville) and freshman Nick Irwin (Westlake) placed eighth in a time of 11:16.83

BW is back in action for the second and final day of competition of the OAC Championships on the Dillard Track at 10 a.m.
