Men's Track and Field Team Finishes Sixth at All-Ohio Championships

DELAWARE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's outdoor track and field team finished sixth at the All-Ohio Championships hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University on the George Gauthier Track.

BW men finished sixth of 17 teams with a team score of 60. The hos Ohio Wesleyan won both the with a team score of 134.5 points.

The men were led by junior All-OAC thrower Cody Smith (Port Clinton) and sophomore sprinter Jordan Leverette (Cleveland/John Adams) as they each earned second place finishes.  Smith placed second in the shot put event with a season-best throw of 52 feet 1.25 inches and Leverette finished second in the 200-meter dash as he crossed the finish line in a season-best time of 22.81 seconds.

Along with Smith in the shot put event freshman Ted Achladis (Avon Lake/Elyria Catholic) finished fourth with a career-best toss of 48' 9''.  In the discus event, Achladis placed third with a career-best toss of 146'10, freshman Carson Kinney (Greenwich/South Central) finished fourth with mark of 143'11 and junior thrower Zak Dysert (McDonald, Pa./Fort Cherry) placed fifth with a mark of 139'6''. Dysert also finished third in the hammer throw as he recorded a career-best toss of 175' 4''.Dysert and junior Jared Reimel (Lake Mary, Fla./Lyman) teamed up for sixth and 10th place finishes in the javelin throw. Dysert placed sixth with a mark of 151' 4'' and Reimel finished fourth with a toss of 134' 7''. Senior All-OAC pole vaulter Johnathon Spilker (Solon) placed fourth with a vault of 14' 0.75''.

In the other running events, freshman sprinter Darion Greer (Toledo/Central Catholic) placed fourth in the 100-meter dash with a career-best time of 10.78 seconds. Sophomore distance runner Spencer Mahon (North Royalton) finished ninth in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 36:07.64.  Freshman distance runner Issac Wilson (Tylersburg, Pa./North Clarion) finished 10th in the 5,000-meter run with a career-best time of 15:57.48.

In the relay action, sophomore Brandon Cole (Vermilion), Darion Greer, freshman sprinter Deion Greer (Toledo/Central Catholic) and Leverette placed second in the 4x100-meter relay with a season-best time of 42.34 seconds. 

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Friday and Saturday, April 21-22 when they host the annual Sparky Adams Invitational inside George Finnie Stadium. The hammer throw will be contested Friday afternoon at the Cuyahoga Fairgrounds throwing area and all other action begins on Saturday at 11 a.m.
