Men's Outdoor Track and Field Finishes Second at Goucher (Md.) Classic

TOWNSON, Md. – The Baldwin Wallace University men's outdoor track and field team finished second at the Goucher (Md.) College Track & Field Classic inside Gopher Stadium.

BW finished second of nine teams with 143 points. Stevenson (Md.) University won with a team score of 171 points.

The Yellow Jackets were led by, junior thrower Zak Dysert (McDonald, Pa./Fort Cherry) as he won the discus, hammer and javelin events. He won the discus with a mark of 146'1'', the hammer with a toss of 163'2'' and the javelin with a mark of 168'8''.

In addition to Dysert in the field events, senior All-OAC pole vaulter Johnathon Spilker (Solon) won the pole vault event with a mark of 14'6''. In the shot put event junior thrower Cody Smith (Port Clinton) won with a toss of 51 feet 2.75 inches and freshman thrower Ted Achladis (Avon Lake/Elyria Catholic) placed third with a mark of 45'3.75''. Smith also earned a second place finish in the hammer throw with a heave of 148'1''.  Behind Dysert in the discus, freshman thrower Carson Kinney (Greenwich/South Central) placed second with a career-best toss of 144'00'' and freshman thrower Ted Achladis (Avon Lake/Elyria Catholic) finished third with a career-best mark of 140'4''.

In the running events, sophomore Brandon Cole (Vermilion) and freshman sprinter Robby Becker (South Amherst/Firelands) earned second place finishes in their respective events. Becker finished second in the 110-meter hurdles with a career-best finish of 16.14 seconds in the prelims and a time of 16.21 seconds in the finals. Cole placed second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 59.29 seconds. 

BW is back in action on Saturday, April 1 when it travels to Danville, Kentucky for the Centre (Ky.) College Invitational inside Farris Stadium.
