Seven Football Student-Athletes Earn Academic All-OAC Honor

UNIONTOWN, Ohio --
 Seven Baldwin Wallace University football student-athletes have been named to the 2016 Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team. 

In order to be selected as Academic All-OAC a student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and maintain varsity status.

Senior placekicker Joe Simonis (Hinckley/Medina Highland), senior defensive lineman Cole Horan (Gibsonia, Pa/Mars), junior offensive lineman Andrew Sierawski (Delaware/Hayes), sophomore linebacker Dane Eberle (Erie, Pa./McDowell), sophomore defensive back Andrew Groves (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls), sophomore defensive back Jake Huber (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) and sophomore defensive lineman Ryan Sosic (Olmsted Falls) are seven of the 28 fall student-athletes to be recognized.

Simonis, who earns his third straight Academic All-OAC honor, is an international business major that carries a 3.57 grade point average.   He is a a Dean's List student. He is a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Freshman, Omicron Delta Epsilon and Chi Sigma Alpha honor societies. Simonis was named as the OAC Special Teams Player of the Week on September 13, 2014. He is a Dr. A.B. Bonds Outstanding Special Teams Player Award recipient. Simonis appeared in 31 games and made 13 of 20 field goals and 105 of 122 extra points.

Horan, who garners his first Academic All-OAC accolade, is a sport management major that carries a 3.50 grade point average.  He is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society.  Horan has appeared in 19 games with 20 tackles.

Sierawski, who earns his second straight Academic All-OAC honor, is a mathematics major that carries a 3.64 grade point average.  He was also named Academic All-OAC in wrestling last winter.  Sierawski is a National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-American, a Dean's List student and a Jacket Scholar.  He has appeared in 21 career games on the offensive line with two tackles.

Eberle, who garners his first Academic All-OAC accolade, is an athletic training major that carries a 3.52 grade point average.  He is a Dean's List student.  Eberle has appeared in six games at linebacker and as the long snapper.

Groves, who earns his first Academic All-OAC honor, is an accounting major that carries a 3.75 grade point average.  He has appeared in 11 career games and has 13 tackles and two pass break ups.  

Huber, who garners his first Academic All-OAC accolade, is a sport management major that carries a 3.73 grade point average.  

Sosic, who earns his first Academic All-OAC honor, is a sport management major that carries a 3.55 grade point average.  He is a student assistant in the athletic communications office.  In two season, Sosic has appeared in four games and has five tackles and two sacks.
