BEREA, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University Head Football Coach John Snell has added six members to his coaching staff.  They are Mike Kelly '80, Ryan O'Rourke '13, Isssac Reed III '16, Adam Lowther, Brighton Hill and Charlie Moeller.

"We are pleased that Mike, Ryan and Issac have returned to our football family and are happy to add Adam, Brighton and Charlie to the Yellow Jacket football family," said Snell, who enters his 15th season as head coach with an 89-53 career record. "Each one brings a strong knowledge of the game of football and excellent work habits to our program.  We look forward to work with them, and I know they are looking forward to working with our student-athletes."

Kelly returns Kelly to the Yellow Jacket football coaching staff this season. It is his second stint at his alma mater. Overall, Kelly enters his 20th season on the staff. He will coach the tight ends. Coach Kelly is one of the senior members of the staff along with Mike Smith.  Prior to taking over as tight ends coach, Coach Kelly assisted BW Hall of Fame Coach Dave Demmerle with the offensive line for many years.

A 1980 graduate of the University with a degree in health and physical education, he was a two-year starter and three-year letterman as an offensive guard. Kelly was a key member of the Yellow Jackets' 1978 NCAA Division III National Championship team. He is currently retired having previously taught and coached in the Avon School District. Coach Kelly also coached at North Olmsted High School for six years for former BW wideout and now Eagle Athletic Director Mike Ptacek.

O'Rourke returns to his alma mater this fall to help with the quarterbacks and serve as the offensive coordinator for the freshman/ junior varsity team. After spending the past two years assisting the football, program at Amherst Steele High School, O'Rourke is ready to help BW. He also taught in both the North Ridgeville school system and then last year at Amherst Marion Steele H.S.

The history major with a Bachelor of Arts degree from BW was an outstanding quarterback for the Yellow Jackets. In 30 career games, O'Rourke completed 371 of 647 passes for 57.3 percent with 4,844 yards and 46 touchdowns. He also ran for eight more scores. In the classroom, O'Rourke maintained a better than 3.3 grade point average and earned both Academic All-OAC and CoSIDA Academic All-District honors. He is a native of Avon, Ohio.

"I am very excited to have the opportunity to come back and contribute to a successful program," said O'Rourke. "BW provides a great learning opportunity for me with the outstanding coaching staff that is currently in place.  I believe the progra is heading in the right direction, and I am excited to help in any way I can."

Reed is in his first season as an intern with the Yellow Jacket football program. He will work with Jeff Moulden and the running backs and help Mark Johnston with the strength and conditioning program. The All-Ohio Athletic Conference running back majored in exercise science and pre-physical therapy and was a four-year contributor on the offense running, catching and returning the ball for 2,558  all-purpose yards and 19 touchdowns. He ran for 2,173 yards and 18 TD's, caught 22 passes for 141 yards and another TD and averaged 24.4 yards on 10 kickoff returns. He is a native of Lehigh Acres, Florida.

"This is a great opportunity," said Reed. "We have the opportunity to learn about the game of football from an outstanding group of veteran coaches who have been a round the game for many years and have experienced many different situations.  The talent, ability, knowledge and work-ethic that each teaches us will make each of us both a better person and coach.  It is great to be a member of the BW coaching staff in 2016."

Lowther joins the BW staff and will assist Ron Lewis with the wide receivers. He spent last year as the Director of Analytics to the Head Junior Varsity Coach and as the varsity offensive and defensive line coach at Oberlin High School. Lowther spent the previous two seasons as the running backs Coach at Oberlin College (2013 and 2014). The 2012 Oberlin College graduate is a native of Wapakoneta. Ohio and Wapakoneta High School.  Lowther also spent one year in the Molecular Phtsiology PHd Program at the University of Dayton (2012-2013).

Hill comes to BW from the University of South Carolina and will work with Mark Johnson and the defensive backs. He also will assist Johnston and Issac Reed III '16 with the Yellow Jacket strength and conditioing program. At South Carolina, Hill spent four years as a strength & conditioning coach with the Gamecocks (2012-2016). He previously served as the Strength & Conditioning Coach, Fullbacks Coach and Team Chaplin at Gray Military Academy in Columbia, South Carolina (2012). The Brooklyn, Ohio native also served as the Head Strength and Running Backs Coach at Hilton Head (S.C.) Christian Academy (2006).

Moeller joins the Yellow Jacket staff this fall and will assist Defensive Coordinator Jim Meyer with the defensive line. He comes from a football family as his grandfather, Gary Moeller, coached at the University of Michigan for many years, and his father, Andy Moeller, was an All-American linebacker for the Wolverines. The current criminology student at Cleveland State University has coached at  Dester, Mich. High School (2013-2015), Pioneer H.S. (2012) and Saline H.S. (2011) and specialized as an offensive line coach. He also has worked at the University of Michigan and University of Notre Dame football camps.

The Yellow Jackets open the 2016 season on Thursday, September 1 when BW hosts Defiance College in the 39th Annual Lee Tressel Shrine Classic on the Tressel Field turf inside The George Finnie Stadium at 7 p.m.  It will be BW's first game with its new video scoreboard. Partial gate proceeds will go to benefit the Shrine philanthropy.
