DELAWARE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team fell to Ohio Wesleyan University in its first match of the season by a final score of 7-2 inside the Gordon Fieldhouse.
BW (0-1) won two of six singles matches. Ohio Wesleyan (2-2) won all three doubles matches and four singles matches.
Doubles (OWU, 3-0)
- Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC Gabriela Heideman (Doylestown/Wadsworth) and senior Academic All-OAC Kierstyn Yates (Grafton/Midview) fell by a score of 8-3 at first doubles
- Junior Academic All-OAC Emma Trost (Norwalk) and freshman Colleen Andersen (Ashtabula/St. John) dropped an 8-4 decision at second doubles
- Sophomore Gillian Brown (Brunswick) and freshman Olivia Koutouras (Avon Lake) fell at third doubles by a score of 8-2
Singles
- Heideman won at first singles by scores of 6-4 and 6-1
- Yates won at second singles by identical scores of 6-3
- Andersen fell at third singles by identical scores of 6-0
- Koutouras fell at fourth singles by scores of 6-1 and 6-0
- Trost fell at fifth singles by scores of 6-2 and 7-5
- Brown fell at sixth singles by scores of 6-0 and 6-1
The Yellow Jackets are back in action Saturday, February 24 when it travels to Dayton for a non-conference match against Wittenberg University at the Five Seasons Family Sports Club at 1 p.m. The Yellow Jackets also host Berea (Ky.) College on February 24 at the Medical Mutual Tennis Center on the campus of Cleveland State University at 9:30 p.m.
