Women’s Tennis Falls to Cornerstone (Mich.) on Day Three of Orlando (Fla.) Trip

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team was defeated by NAIA Cornerstone (Mich.) University in a non-conference match by a final score of 9-0 at the United States Tennis Association (UTSA) National Campus

Cornerstone (3-4) won all matches over BW (1-5) 

Doubles

  • Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC Gabriela Heideman (Doylestown/Wadsworth) and senior Academic All-OAC Kierstyn Yates (Grafton/Midview) fell at first doubles to Ximena Matamoros and Renata Castillo by a score of 8-4
  • Junior Academic All-OAC Emma Trost (Norwalk) and freshman Collen Anderson (Ashtabula/St. John) fell at second doubles to Sarah Daza and Jadyn Koenes by a score of 8-2
  • Freshmen Olivia Koutouras (Avon Lake) and Aniya Qualls (Elyria/Midview) fell at third doubles to Hanna De La Vega Sanchez and Daniela Fernandez by a score of 8-3

Singles

  • Heideman fell at first singles to Matamoros by identical scores of 6-1
  • Yates fell at second singles to Castillo by scores of 6-0 and 6-1
  • Anderson fell at third singles to Daza by identical scores of 6-2
  • Koutouras fell at fourth singles to Koenes by identical scores of 6-1
  • Trost fell at fifth singles to De La Vega Sanchez by identical scores of 6-0
  • Freshman Gillian Brown (Brunswick) fell at sixth singles to Camila Paolone by identical scores of 6-0

The Yellow Jackets close out their spring break trip to the Sunshine State on Thursday, March 6 as they play a pair of non-conference matches against Carthage (Wis.) College and Ursinus (Pa.) College at the UTSA National Campus at 7:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
