Women’s Tennis Drops a Pair of Matches on Final Day of Spring Break Trip

ORLANDO, Fla. – On its final day of competition in the Sunshine State, the Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team dropped a pair of non-conference matches.

BW (1-7) opened the day as it fell to Carthage (Wis.) College (8-5) by a final score of 9-0.  The Yellow Jackets closed out the day as they were defeated by Ursinus (Pa.) College (6-1) by a final score of 7-2 at the United States Tennis Association (UTSA) National Campus

Against Carthage, BW did not win a match.

Results

  • Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC Gabriela Heideman (Doylestown/Wadsworth) and senior Academic All-OAC Kierstyn Yates (Grafton/Midview) fell at first doubles by a score of 8-4
  • Junior Academic All-OAC Emma Trost (Norwalk) and freshman Colleen Andersen (Ashtabula/St. John) fell at second by a score of 8-3
  • Freshmen Olivia Koutouras (Avon Lake) and Aniya Qualls (Elyria/Midview) fell at third doubles by a score of 8-1
  • Heideman fell at first singles by identical scores of 6-2
  • Yates fell at second singles by scores of 6-3 and 6-1
  • Andersen fell at third singles by scores of 6-3 and 6-1
  • Koutouras fell at fourth singles by identical scores of 6-2
  • Trost fell at fifth singles by scores of 6-0 and 6-1
  • Freshman Gillian Brown (Brunswick) fell at sixth singles by scores of 6-1 and 6-0

Against Ursinus, BW won one doubles matches and one singles matches.

Results

  • Heideman and Yates fell at first doubles by a score of 8-6
  • Trost and Andersen won at second doubles by a score of 8-4
  • Koutouras and Qualls fell at third doubles by a score of 8-3
  • Heideman fell at first singles by scores of 6-0 and 6-4
  • Yates fell at second singles by scores of 6-4 and 6-1
  • Andersen won at third singles by identical scores of 6-3
  • Koutouras fell at fourth singles by scores of 6-1, 6-7 and 7-4 in the tiebreaker
  • Trost fell at fifth singles by scores of 1-6, 6-1 and 10-7 in the tiebreaker
  • Brown fell at sixth singles by scores of 2-6, 6-0 and 12-10 in the tiebreaker

BW is back in action on Sunday, March 17 when it travels to nearby Oberlin for a non-conference match against Oberlin College on the Hunsinger Courts at 12 p.m.
