Women’s Tennis Drops Non-Conference Match to Adrian (Mich.)

ALAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – On the second day of its spring break trip, the Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team was defeated by Adrian (Mich.) College in a non-conference match by a final score of 8-1 at Sanlando Park.

BW (1-4) earned its lone victory in singles play.  Adrian (8-4) won three doubles matches and five singles matches. 

Doubles

  • Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC Gabriela Heideman (Doylestown/Wadsworth) and senior Academic All-OAC Kierstyn Yates (Grafton/Midview) fell at first doubles to Hye Jin Elliot and Claire Earley by a score of 8-3
  • Junior Academic All-OAC Emma Trost (Norwalk) and freshman Collen Andersen (Ashtabula/St. John) fell at second doubles to Live Depies and Ellie Himebauch by a score of 8-1
  • Freshmen Olivia Koutouras (Avon Lake) and Aniya Qualls (Elyria/Midview) fell at third doubles to Brooke Posey and Jocelyn Smith by a score of 7-6 and 7-3 in the tiebreaker

Singles

  • Heideman fell at first singles to Jin Elliott by scores of 6-1 and 6-2
  • Yates fell at second singles to Earley by scores of 6-4 and 6-3
  • Andersen won at third singles over Depies by identical scores of 6-1
  • Koutouras fell at fourth singles to Regan Snyder by scores of 6-4 and 6-0
  • Trost fell at fifth singles to Ava Hovey by scores of 6-2 and 6-1
  • Freshman Gillian Brown (Brunswick) fell at sixth singles to Hope Busscher by scores of 6-1 and 6-2

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Wednesday, March 6 as it travels to Orlando, Florida for a non-conference match NAIA Cornerstone (Mich.) University at USTA National Campus at 8:00 a.m.
