Women’s Tennis Drops OAC Road Match to Capital

BEXLEY, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team was defeated Capital University in an Ohio Athletic Conference match by a final score of 7-2 at the Scarborough Tennis Club.

BW (2-11, 0-4 OAC) won two doubles and one singles match.   Capital (4-8, 2-3 OAC) won one doubles and five singles matches.  

Doubles

  • Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC Gabriela Heideman (Doylestown/Wadsworth) and senior Academic All-OAC Kierstyn Yates (Grafton/Midview) won at first doubles by a score of 8-5
  • Junior Academic All-OAC Emma Trost (Norwalk) and freshman Colleen Andersen (Ashtabula/St. John) fell at second doubles by a score of 8-2
  • Freshmen Olivia Koutouras (Avon Lake) and Aniya Qualls (Elyria/Midview) fell at third doubles by a score of 8-3

Singles

  • Heideman fell at first singles by score of 6-2 and 1-0 before retiring
  • Yates fell at second singles by identical scores of 6-0
  • Andersen won at third singles by scores 6-3 and 6-2
  • Koutouras fell at fourth singles by scores of 6-0 and 6-3
  • Trost fell fifth singles by scores of 6-4 and 6-2
  • Freshman Gillian Brown (Brunswick) fell at sixth singles by scores of 6-1 and 6-4

The Yellow Jackets close out the regular season portion of their schedule on Sunday, April 28 with a pair of OAC matches against crosstown rival John Carroll University and Marietta College. 

BW first hosts a rescheduled match with John Carroll on the Pop Collins Tennis Courts at 9 a.m.  The Yellow Jackets will then travel later that day to Marietta for a rescheduled match with Marietta inside the Beren Tennis Center at 3:30 p.m.
