Women's Tennis Picks Up Second Shutout of Season

MARIETTA, Ohio -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team posted their second shutout of the season as it defeated Marietta College in an Ohio Athletic Conference match by a final score of 9-0 at the Beren Family Tennis 

BW (3-2, 3-2 OAC) began doubles action with an 8-0 victory from the tandem of senior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference performer Ashtyn Morris (Salem) and freshman Gabriela Heideman (Doylestown/Wadsworth) in the No. 1 contest. Senior Jayde Robinson (Cincinnati/School for Creative & Performing Arts) and freshman Kierstyn Yates (Grafton/Midview) combined to capture the No. 2 doubles match by a score of 8-4. The Yellow Jackets closed out the doubles sweep with an 8-3 victory from the duo of freshman Kerrigan Ponsart (Cleveland/Saint Joseph Academy) and sophomore Lizzy Cole (Shaker Heights) in No. 3 doubles. 

BW completed the the shutout by claiming all six singles matches.   Morris and Robinson won at No. 1 and No 3 singles by identical scores of 6-1 and 6-1.  Heideman, Cole and Yates all won their matches by identical scores of 6-0 and 6-0 at No. 2, No. 4 and No. 5 singles, respectively.  Senior Academic All-OAC selection Emma Hubbard (Ortonville, Mich./Brandon High School) closed out the match by winning at No. 6 singles by scotes of 6-2 and 6-0.

BW returns to action on Wednesday, April 28, when it closes out the home portion of its schedule with an OAC match against crosstown rival John Carroll University on the Pop Collins Tennis Courts at 3:30 p.m.  The Yellow Jackets close out the regular season on Saturday, May 1 wehn it TRavels to Bexley for an OAC match against Capital University at 1 p.m.
