Women’s Tennis Drops Hard-Fought OAC Match to Crosstown Rival John Carroll

MEDINA, Ohio -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team dropped an Ohio Athletic Conference match to crosstown rival John Carroll University by a final score of 9-0 at the Paramount Tennis Club 

BW (3-3, 3-3 OAC) dropped all three doubles matches to start the day.  The tandem of freshman Kierstyn Yates (Grafton/Midview) and sophomore Lizzy Cole (Shaker Heights) fell at No. 3 doubles by a score of 8-4.  The No. 1 duo of senior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference performer Ashtyn Morris (Salem) and freshman Gabriela Heideman (Doylestown/Wadsworth)  as well as the No. 3 tandem of senior Jayde Robinson (Cincinnati/School for Creative & Performing Arts) and freshman Kerrigan Ponsart (Cleveland/Saint Joseph Academy) each fell by scores of 8-3.

John Carroll (5-0, 5-0 OAC) closed out the match by securing all six singles. Cole took the No. 5 match to three sets but ultimately fell by scores of 6-1, 2-6, 1-0 and 10-3 in the tie breaker. Senior Academic All-OAC performer Emma Hubbard (Ortonville, Mich./Brandon High School) also lost a competitive match at No. 6 singles by scores of 1-6, 6-3, 1-0 and 10-8 in the tiebreaker .

The Yellow Jackets conclude their regular season on Saturday, May 1, when they travels to Bexley for an OAC match against Capital University at 1:00 p.m.
