BEREA, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University Director of Athletics Steve Thompson and Head Wrestling Coach Jamie Gibbs has announced that Jason Zastrow has been elevated to associate head coach after serving the previous four seasons as the top assistant.

"Coach Zastrow has earned this title through his commitment and development of each and every one of our student-athletes," stated Gibbs.  "Coach Zastrow is one of the best wrestling coaches in all of Division III period and he has performed just like a head coach since the first day he stepped onto the BW campus.  We are extremely fortunate to have someone of his caliber on this staff and this is another boost for our wrestling program. His passion for wrestling and commitment to excellence elevates everyone around him."

In his four seasons in Berea, Zastrow has help guide the Yellow Jackets to an overall record of 51-7 and a 23-2 dual match record in the Ohio Athletic Conference and has been ranked in the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) top-10 rankings all four years and the team reached its highest ranking of fifth during the 2018-19 season. He has been named to the OAC Wrestling Coaching Staff of the Year on three occasions, the NCAA Division III Central Region Assistant Coach of the Year on two occasions and the 2018 NCAA Division III Assistant Coach of the Year.

Zastrow came to BW after serving as the head wrestling coach at the University of the Ozarks (Ark.) for two seasons.  He also served as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Wartburg (Iowa) University for three seasons and Central (Iowa) College.

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in history from Wartburg in 2007 and Master of Science in college athletic administration from Coker (S.C.) College in 2015.  As a collegiate wrestler at Wartburg, Zastrow was an NCAA Division III National Qualifier his senior year and his teams won four straight Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and finished either as NCAA national champions or national runners-up all four years.

BW opens the 2021-22 season and its quest for its sixth OAC title in the last seven years in early November.
