Decatur Earns Second Career OAC Wrestler of the Week Accolade

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University junior and No. 2 nationally-ranked 125-pound wrestler Jacob Decatur (Akron/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week for the second time this season and in his career.

Decatur earns the weekly accolade after winning the 125-pound title and helping the No. 5 nationally-ranked BW Yellow Jackets to a finish at Spartan Mat Classic hosted by Manchester (Ind) University.  He opened the tournament with an 18-3 technical fall win over Ethan Bednarczyk of Wabash (Ind.) College in the first round then won by forfeit in the second round. Decatur earned pinfall victory in 1:06 over Jaden Bird of Wabash in the third round and a 12-4 major decision over Trevor Marsman of NAIA Cornerstone (Mich.) University in the fourth round.  He claimed the title with a 6-4 decision over Carlos Champagne of Wabash.

This season, Decatur remains undefeated with a record of 19-0.  He has tallied five technical falls, four major decisions and two pins.

BW is back in action on Tuesday, January 18 when it hosts an OAC match against Wilmington College in the Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center at 7 p.m.
