Decatur Garners First Career OAC Wrestler of the Week Accolade

WESTERVILLE, Ohio -- Baldwin Wallace University junior 125-pound wrestler Jacob Decatur (Akron/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) has been selected as the Ohio Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week for the first time in his career.

Decatur garners his first career accolade after winning the 125-pound title at the season-opening Ithaca (N.Y.) College Invitational in which BW placed fourth of 11 teams last weekend.  He opened the invitational with a first round bye.  Decatur then recorded a technical fall over Dylan King of Norwich (Vt.) University by a score of 20-4 in the second round.  He tallied a major decision over Christian Rivas of Johnson and Wales (R.I.) University by a score of 14-4 in the third round. Decatur needed extra time to defeat No. 7 nationally ranked Joey Manginelli of Springfield (Mass.) with a 3-1 decision in the semifinals.  He captured the title as he posted a 3-2 decision over No. Akhil Vega of Stevens Institute of Technology (N.J.) in the finals.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, November 13 when they travel to Angola, Indiana to compete in the Trine University Invitational inside Hershey Hall at 9:30 a.m.  BW opens Ohio Athletic Conference action on Tuesday, November 16 when it hosts a conference match against the University of Mount Union in the Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center at 7 p.m.  Fans can watch all the action live at https://bit.ly/3q9Ktl5.
