Women’s Golf Takes Second at Season Opening BW Fall Invitational

COLUMBIA STATION, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's golf team opened the 2019-20 campaign as it placed second at its very own BW Fall Invitational at the Mallard Creek Golf Club,

BW was second of three teams with a two-day total of 680 on the par-72 and 5,901-yard Mallard Creek layout.  The University of Mount Union was the champion for the third straight year with a total of 663.

The Yellow Jackets were led by senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC player Anna Schatschneider (Avon) finished tied for second of 21 golfers as she fired rounds of 81 and a career-low tying 80 for an invitational total of 161.  Sophomore Kelly Linnabary (Westerville/Central) posted rounds of 89 and 85 for a two-day total of 174. Sophomore Leah Metzger (Ashland) as she had rounds of 95 and a career-best 82 for a total of 177. Junior Academic All-OAC player Rachel Sladky (North Olmsted) carded a career-low tying 85 and a 92 for a two-round total of 177.. Rounding out the top five was senior two-time Academic All-OAC player Emily Hunt (Marysville) tallied rounds of 92 and a career-low 86 for a total of 178.

Playing as individuals were senior Hannah Durst (Madison), junior Aubrey Baumler (Huron), sophomore Mary Fraley (Cleveland/Mayfield) and freshman Kaitlynn Olak (Norwalk/St. Paul).

Durst led the individuals as she carded identical rounds of 101 for a total of 202.  Baumler posted rounds of 111 and 103 for a total of 124.   Fraley tallied rounds of 123 and 119 for a total of 242.  Olak had identical rounds of 138 for a total of 276.

BW is back in action on Sunday, September 8 when it travels to Alliance to compete in the Mount Union Fall Invitational at the Tannenhauf Golf Club.
