Men's Outdoor Track and Field Team Takes Third at Wooster Invitational

WOOSTER, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's outdoor track and field team finished third at the two-day Wooster Invitational inside John P. Papp Stadium.  The meet featured schools from NCAA Division I, II and III as well as a junior college participant.

BW was third of 14 teams with 72 points.  The University of Mount Union was the champion with 165 points. 

The Yellow Jackets were led by sophomore thrower Cody Smith (Port Clinton) as won the shot put and was third in the hammer throw.  Smith captured the shot put with a career-best mark of 51 feet and 11.75 inches and had a career-best mark of 166'2" in the hammer.

In addition, senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference thrower Tyler Burdorff (Painesville/Riverside) as was the runner-up in the hammer throw and the shot put and placed third in the discus. Burdorff had a season-best mark of 185'6" in the hammer, a season-best mark of 49'11" in the shot put and a season-best mark of 143'8 in the discus.

Senior All-American and Academic All-American sprinter Ben Beidleman (Washington, D.C. /St. Anselm's Abbey) was the runner-up in the 200-meter dash and was fifth in the 100-meter dash.  Ben Beidleman had a time of 22.01 seconds in the 200-meter and a season-best time of 11.01 in the 100-meter.

Sophomore Zak Dysert (McDonald, Pa. /Fort Cherry) was fourth in the javelin, seventh in the discus and ninth in the hammer.  Dysert had a mark of 135'4" in the javelin, a career-best mark of 131 in the discus and a mark of 150'9 in the hammer.   

Junior vaulter Johnathon Spilker (Solon) was sixth in the pole vault with a season-best mark of 14'0.5".

Freshman jumper Milton Woods (Chicago, Ill./ Whitney Young) was fifth in the triple jump and seventh in the high jump.  Woods had a career-best mark of 34'7" in the triple jump and a career-best mark of 5'8.75" in the high jump.

Senior jumper Sammy Ibrahim (North Olmsted) took eighth in the long jump with a season-best mark of 20'1.5".

BW is back in action on Friday and Saturday, April 8-9 when it travels to Alliance to compete in the John Homon Open hosted by the University of Mount Union inside Mount Union Stadium.
