Burdorff Wins Title to Lead Men's Indoor Track and Field on First Day of OAC Championships

MARIETTA, Ohio -- Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference thrower Tyler Burdorff (Painesville/Riverside) claimed his first OAC title of the weekend to lead the Baldwin Wallace University men's track and field team to a fifth place standing after the first day of competition at the Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Marietta College inside the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center.

The 18th nationally ranked Yellow Jackets, who are in the search of their first OAC crown since 1981, are fifth of 10 teams with 22 points.   Three-time defending champion the University of Mount Union leads after the first day with 41 points. 

The top three individuals and the top three relay teams earn All-OAC honors.

Burdorff successfully defended his weight throw crown with a season-best mark of 59 feet and five inches. He now has three All-OAC indoor accolades.

In addition, junior vaulter Johnathon Spilker (Solon) earned his first career All-OAC honor as he placed third in the pole vault with a mark of 14'9.5".  Sophomore thrower Zak Dysert (McDonald, Pa./Fort Cherry) was fourth in the weight throw with a career-best mark of 53'5".

In relay action, the distance medley team of sophomore Justin Swords (Brunswick), senior Tate Stoll (Norwalk/Western Reserve), senior Alex Furhmann (Painesville/Riverside) and sophomore Dylan Tanner (Mentor) was eighth in a time of 11:40.59.

BW is back in action on Saturday, February 27 for the second and final day of competition at the OAC Indoor Track and Field Championships at 10 a.m.
