Men's Indoor Track and Field Teams Finish Third at All-Ohio Championships

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's indoor track and field teams finished third at the All-Ohio Division III Indoor Championships hosted by Otterbein University in the Clements Recreation Center.

The Yellow Jackets were third of 17 teams with 92 points. Mount Union won the meet with 118 points.  

BW was led by senior All-Ohio thrower Tyler Burdorff (Painesville) won both throwing events to reaming undefeated on the season.  Burdorff successfully defended his title in the weight throw with a season-best mark of 59 feet and three inches and won the shot put with a mark of 51'3.5".  Burdorff's mark in the weight throw keeps him fourth in Division III, which he previously had from last weekend's throw.

In addition, freshman sprinter Jordan Leverette (Cleveland/John Adams) was first in the 200-meter and third in the 60-meter dash.  Leverette won the 200-meter dash in a meet-record and school-record time of 22.06 and had a time of 7.01 in the 60-meter.  He ran a career-best time of 6.99 in the 60-meter prelims. Senior Academic All-American sprinter Ben Beidleman(Washington, D.C. / St. Anselm's Abbey) finished second in both the 60-meter dash and 200-meter dash.  Ben had a career-best tying 60-meter dash time of 6.97 and had a time of 22.23 in the 200-meter. Junior vaulter Johnathon Spilker (Solon) was second in the pole vault with a career-best tying mark of 15'.  Sophomore thrower Cody Smith (Port Clinton) was second in the shot put with a career-best mark of 50'8.25.  Senior sprinter Michael Beidleman (Washington, D.C. / Col. Zadok A. McGruder) was fifth in the 200-meter dash and sixth in the 60-meter dash. Michael ran career-best times of 22.68 in the 200-meter and 7.04 in the 60-meter.  Sophomore distance runner Brian Brennan (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) was eighth in the 5,000-meter run in a career-best time of 15:29.03. Sophomore distance runner Evan Milovich (Westlake) was ninth in the 5,000-meter run in a career-best time of 15:38.86.

In relay action, the 4x200-meter team of LeveretteBen Beidleman, sophomore sprinter Trypp Washington (Orlando, Fla./First Academy) and Michael Beidleman finished second in a season-best time of 1:30.44   The 4x400-meter team of LeveretteBen BeidlemanMichael Beidleman and sophomore sprinter Vee Sealey (Painesville/Harvey) finished second in a school-record time of 3:23.01.  The previous 4x400-meter relay record had stood for 41 years.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Friday, February 19 when they host the annual Greater Cleveland Championships on the Harrison Dillard Track inside the Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse.   Field events  begin at 4 p.m. with running events slated to start at 5:30 p.m.
