Men's Track and Field Team Places Second at 47th Sparky Adams Invitational

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's outdoor track and field team placed second at the 47th Annual Sparky Adams Invitational inside the George Finnie Stadium. The meet consisted of one NCAA Division I school, two NCAA Division II schools and six NCAA Division III schools.

The Yellow Jackets were second of nine teams with 107 points.  The University of Mount Union was the team champion with 221 points.

The BW men were led by senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference thrower Tyler Burdorff (Painesville/Riverside) as he won the hammer throw, was fourth in the shot put, was fifth in the discus and was eighth in the javelin.   Burdorff had a season-best mark of 189 feet and two inches in the hammer, a season-best mark of 51'1" in the shot put, a mark of 145'5" in the discus and a season-best mark of 141'8" in the javelin.

In addition, senior All-American and Academic All-American sprinter Ben Beidleman (Washington, D.C./St. Anselm's Abbey) won the 200-meter dash and was seventh in the 100-meter dash. Ben Beidleman had a time of 21.96 in the 200-meter and a time of 11.03 in the 100-meter.

Junior vaulter/jumper Johnathon Spilker (Solon) was the runner-up in the pole vault and fifth in the triple jump.  Spilker had a career-best tying mark of 14'7.25" in the pole vault and a career-best mark of 40'11.5" in the triple jump.

Sophomore thrower Cody Smith (Port Clinton) was the runner-up in the shot put with a mark of 51'11.

Senior Michael Beidleman (Washington, D.C./Col. Zadok A. McGruder) finished third in the 400-meter dash in a career-best time of 51.70.  

Sophomore Zak Dysert (McDonald, Pa./Fort Cherry) took fifth in the javelin with a mark of 151'8". 

Freshman jumper Milton Woods (Chicago, Ill./Whitney Young) was seventh in the high jump with a career-best mark of 5'10". 

Sophomore Vee Sealey(Painesville/Harvey) took seventh in the 400-meter dash in a time of 52.37. 

Freshman hurdler Brandon Cole(Vermilion) took eighth in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:03.54.

In relay action, the 4x100-meter team of sophomore sprinter Trypp Washington (Orlando, Fla. / First Academy), Ben BeidlemanMichael Beidleman and freshman sprinter Jordan Leverette (Cleveland/John Adams) were second in a time of 43.34.

BW is back in action on Friday and Saturday, April 29 and 30 when it travels to Wilmington to compete in the Ohio Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Wilmington College.
