BEREA, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team dropped a rescheduled Ohio Athletic Conference match to Ohio Northern University by a final score of 2-7 on the Pop Collins Tennis Courts.
BW (14-3, 2-3 OAC) and Ohio Northern (10-7, 4-1 OAC) were originally scheduled to play on March 29, but inclement weather postponed the match until April 17. Once again, inclement weather on April 17 postponed the match until today.
Singles Play (ONU, 1-6)
- Sophomore All-OAC Matt McGee (Ottawa Hills) beat Tristan Munteanu in a thriller, 6-4, 1-6, 7-6
- Freshman Will Horvath (Oregon / Clay) fell to Sam Sran in a tightly contested, 5-7, 6-4, 12-14
- Senior All-OAC Trey Kernan (Penfield, N.Y.) was defeated by Peyton Specht, 1-6, 5-7
- Sophomore Adam Zeidler (Bay Village) fell to Kavya Desai, 7-6, 4-6, 2-10
- Freshman Jacob Weingart (Tiffin / Columbian) fell to Drew Swisher, 4-6, 2-6
- Freshman Gavin Binni (Sylvania / Northview) fell to Nico Rogel, 4-6, 1-6
Doubles Play (ONU, 1-2)
- McGee and Kernan deafeted Schultz/Sran, 8-2
- Horvath and Zeidler fell to Specht/Swisher, 6-8
- Sophomore Caleb Reed (Wilmington) and Weingart fell to Desai/Munteanu 4-8
The Yellow Jackets close out the regular season portion of their schedule on Saturday, April 22, when they travel to Lexington for an OAC match against Capital University at the Lakewood Racquet Club at 1 p.m.
The OAC Tournament begins on Tuesday, April 25, with quarterfinal matches on the campuses of the third and fourth-place finishers. The tournament semifinals and championship matches will be contested on Friday and Saturday, April 28 and 29, at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason.
