Men's Soccer Plays to Draw With Alfred (N.Y.) in Consolation Game of Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament

ERIE, Pa. – The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team closed out its opening weekend action as it played to a scoreless non-conference draw with Alfred (N.Y.) University in the consolation game of the Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament.

BW Leaders (0-1-1)

  • Sophomore goalkeeper Sam Cipriano (Massillon / Jackson) recorded four saves on the only four shots he faced

Alfred Leaders (0-1-1)

  • Matthew Osmundson faced eight Yellow Jacket shots on goal and made all eight saves.

First Half 

  • BW and the Saxons each took six shots
  • Alfred recorded three saves to two for the Yellow Jackets
  • BW took the lone corner kick of the opening period

Second Half

  • The Yellow Jackets outshot the Saxons by a 12-8 margin in the final stanza
  • Alfred won both the corner kick battle by a margin of 4-3 and saves by a margin of 5-2 in the final half.

BW returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 5 for a non-conference road game against the Geneva (Pa.) College on Reeves Field at 7 p.m.
