NORTH RIDGEVILLE, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team split a pair of winter matches today, including beating NCAA Division II Ursuline University, 9-0, at the North Ridge Racquet Club in its second winter match of the day. Earlier this morning, the Yellow Jackets lost to Oberlin College in Oberlin.

With its win, BW is 2-2 overall this year (2013-2014), including a 1-1 mark during the fall portion of its schedule. Ursuline is 0-1 overall.

In singles play, number one singles player and sophomore Kelsey Blatt (Tallmadge), No.2 player and senior Morgan Baker (Vermilion/ Elyria Catholic), No.3 player and freshman Claire Watts (Medina/ Senior), No.4 player and freshman Anatasia Koval (Seven Hills/ Parma Normandy) and No.5 player and senior Liz Keller (Cincinnati Walnut Hills) all won in straight sets. No.6 player and senior Whitney Yoder (Medina/ Senior) won by default.

In doubles play, the No.1 duo of sophomore Mackenzi Baker (Vermilion/ Elyria Catholic) and Watts won, 8-6. The No. 2 tandem of Yoder and sophomore Mackenzie Donalson (Hilliard/ Davidson) won, 8-0.  The No.3 team of Keller and Koval won by default.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action next Saturday, February 15 when they travel to Kalamazoo, Michigan to play host and perennial NCAA Division III powerhouse Kalamazoo College in its final winter indoor match prior to its annual Spring Break Trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina.

The Yellow Jackets travel to Hilton Head the Week of March 9-15 and play six matches, including three against NCAA Division II competition.
