BW Women’s Tennis Team Beats Division II Kentucky Wesleyan

HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team defeated NCAA Division II Kentucky Weseyan University, 7-2, today in the second of six matches on its annual Spring Break Trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina. This afternoon, the Yellow Jackets face perennial NCAA Division III tournament contender Albion College of Michigan at 3:00 p.m.

The Yellow Jackets, now 3-4 overall, led 3-0 after doubles play as the number one tandem of senior Morgan Baker (Vermilion/ Elyria Catholic) and sophomore Kelsey Blatt (Tallmadge) won, 8-6, to improve to 4-8 overall. The No. 2 duo of sophomore Mackenzi Baker (Vermilion/ Elyria Catholic) and sophomore Mackenzie Donalson (Hilliard/ Davidson) won, 8-4, to improve to 1-1 this season. The No.3 tandem of freshman Claire Watts (Medina) and senior Whitney Yoder (Medina) won, 8-1, to improve to 2-0 overall.

In singles action, Watts won at No.3 by the scores of 6-4 and 6-2 and improved to 4-8 overall. Donalson won at No.4 by the scores of 6-1 ad 6-1 and is now 1-9 this year. Mackenzi Baker won No.5 by the scores of 6-2 and 6-1 and is 1-5 overall. Yoder won No.6 by the scores of 6-0 and 6-0 to improve to 1-3 in 2013-2014.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, March 11, BW plays a pair of matches when it faces Spring Arbor (Mich.) College at 8:00 a.m. and NCAA Division II Fairmont State (W.Va) University at 3:00 p.m. The Jackets end their spring schedule in Hilton Head on Wednesday when they play Lake Forest (Ill.) College.

BW opens Ohio Athletic Conference play on Saturday, March 22 at Capital University at 1:00 p.m. The Yellow Jackets play their first home match on Saturday, March 29 when it hosts OAC-rival Marietta College at the "Pop" Collins Courts in Berea at 1:00 p.m.
