Women’s Tennis Competes in Second Day of ITA Tourney

GREENCASTLE, Ind. --  The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team competed today (Saturday, September 21, 2013) on the second day of the annual ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) Central Region Tournament at DePauw (Ind.) University.  The final day of competition is tomorrow, Sunday.  This also is the final fall event for the Yellow Jackets.

In singles play, senior Morgan Baker (Vermilion / Elyria Catholic) lost her match 6-0 and 6-1 to DePauw (Ind.) University.

In doubles action, Morgan Baker and sophomore All-Ohio Athletic Conference standout Kelsey Blatt (Tallmadge) lost their match 8-2 to OAC rival Case Western Reserve University.

This fall, the Yellow Jackets have a 1-1 dual match record, including an 8-1 win against NCAA Division II Clarion (Pa.) University, and also competed at the three-day Oberlin College Tournament.

The college tennis season is divided into two portions with the Yellow Jackets playing two dual matches and in two tournaments during the fall.  The season resumes in late winter with a match or two prior to the team's annual Spring Break Trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina.  The BW women have won four of the last seven Ohio Athletioc Conference titles and made four NCAA Division III National Tournament appearances during that tme.
