BW Women’s Tennis Team Loses to Catholic in Hilton Head, S.C.

HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team lost to NCAA Division III opponent Catholic (Washington D.C.) University, 8-1, today in the first of six matches on its annual Spring Break Trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina.

The Yellow Jackets, now 2-4 overall, trailed 2-1 after doubles play and received their lone win from the No.3 tandem of senior Whitney Yoder (Medina) and freshman Claire Watts (Medina) as they defeated Catholic's duo of Isabel Tanvo and Caitlin Porter, 9-7. In singles action and despite dropping all six matches, sophomore No.1 player Kelsey Blatt (Tallmadge) and sophomore No.4 player Mackenzie Donalson (Hilliard/ Davidson) extended their Catholic opponents to three sets.

With its victory, Catholic improved to 7-1 overall.

Tomorrow, BW plays a pair of matches when it faces Kentucky Wesleyan University at 8:00 a.m. and Albion (Mich.) at 3:00 p.m. BW opens Ohio Athletic Conference play on Saturday, March 22 at Capital University at 1:00 p.m. The Yellow Jackets play their first home match on Saturday, March 29 when it hosts OAC-rival Marietta College at the "Pop" Collins Courts in Berea at 1:00 p.m.
