UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – Senior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference forward Michael Brennan (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) scored an early goal but it was not enough as the Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team fell to OAC-leader and cross-town rival John Carroll University by a final score of 4-1 on Wasmer Field in the Don Shula Stadium.

The Yellow Jackets (7-9-1, 3-2-1 OAC) took an early lead as junior midfielder Zach Smith (Parma/Normandy) sent a through ball into the box and Brennan buried it into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead.   The goal was the second of the season for Brennan and the assist was the second of the season for Smith, who increased his team-leading point total to 12.

The Blue Streaks (13-3, 6-0 OAC), who have won 10 straight games and 25 of their last 30 home games, tied the game at 1-1 in the 19th minute on the goal by junior midfielder Kevin Pachuta.  John Carroll took the lead at 2-1 in the 21st minute off the foot of senior All-OAC midfielder Brian Potocnik.

The Blue Streaks added to their lead at 3-1 when freshman midfielder Jacob Lombardo tallied the goal in the 53rd minute.  John Carroll closed out the scoring and pushed the lead to 4-1 when senior forward Mariusz Trzeciak netted the goal in the 79th minute.

BW junior netminder Zach Haynes (Medina), who made his second straight and third start of the season, faced 22 shots; including six on goal, allowed four goals and made two saves as he dropped  his record to 1-2 overall.

BW is back in action this Saturday, October 25 when the team travels to Westerville for a 2 p.m. OAC game against Otterbein University at Memorial Stadium.   The next home game is on Tuesday, October 28 when the teams hosts Ohio Northern University for an OAC game on the Tressel Field at 7 p.m.
