BW Men Tie with Heidelberg

BEREA, Ohio-- The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team tie against Heidelberg University, Wednesday evening on Tressel Field at The George Finnie Stadium.

In the first half, neither team was able to find the back of the net. It was a tough defensive effort by both BW (5-7-1, 1-0-1 OAC) and HU (5-4-3, 1-0-1 OAC) that resulted in a scoreless deadlock at the end of the first stanza. The Yellow Jackets attempted three shots near the net and on goal BW had two chances at the net.

In the second half, both defenses continued to play tough against one and another to force overtime. Freshman goalkeeper Ryan Asbury (Cincinnati/Turpin) defended five shots between the pipes.

In overtime, the score remained scoreless as the Yellow Jackets and Student Princes continued to play scrappy defense. In the second overtime period, neither team were able to score and resulted in a tie game. BW ended up attempting 10 shots near the net and five shots on goal. Asbury ended up with six saves for the game.

The Yellow Jackets will remain at home on Tressel Field at The George Finnie Stadium to take on OAC-foe Marietta College on Saturday evening, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. BW will then travel to Alliance, Ohio on Tuesday, Oct. 14 to face OAC-rival Mount Union at 7 p.m.
