BW Men Drop its Match to Grove City (Pa.), 4-1

GROVE CITY, Pa.- -  The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team dropped its match to Grove City College (Pa.) 4-1 , on Saturday afternoon at College Field.  

In the first half, Grove City (3-2-1) scored the first goal of the match at the 4:01 mark.  Junior forward Tim Shackleton scored his first goal from 18 yards out on the right side of the net.  Junior forward Seth Loew was credited on the assist.  GCC scored its second goal of the match at the 17:47 mark by Loew.  Junior midfielder/defender Justin Phillips was credited on the assist.  BW (1-5) would convert its first goal of the match at the 23:36 mark, cutting the deficit in half, 2-1.

Senior forward Cody Smith (Brunswick) kicked his first goal of the season.  Sophomore forward Justin Ball (North Olmsted) was credited on his first assist of the year.  Junior goalkeeper Zach Haynes (Medina) defended five shots at the net.  


In the second half,  Grove City answered early in the second half.  Junior midfielder/ defender Justin Phillips scored his first goal of the season off of a free kick to put them up 3-1.  GCC would score their fourth and final goal of the game at the 82:06 mark, as senior forward Jordan Carmichael scored his third goal of the year to give them a 4-1 win.  Sophomore midfielder Frank Hueber was credited on the assist.  

The BW men will travel to Allegheny College on Tuesday, September 16 with kickoff beginning at 7:30 p.m.  The Yellow Jackets will return home on Saturday, September 20 to play their home opener against No. 7 Ohio Wesleyan University.  Kickoff will begin at 7 p.m.
