Three Yellow Jacket Men’s Soccer Players Named All-OAC

BEREA, Ohio  --  Three Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer players have been named to the 2014 All-Ohio Athletic Conference team.

Senior defender Trey Arney (Coshocton) and senior midfielder Michael Brennan (Akron/ Walsh Jesuit) were named as second-team All-OAC choices, and senior forward Cody Smith (Brunswick) was named to the honorable mention unit.  The trio are all scholar-athletes who helped the Yellow Jackets to an 10-10-1 overall record, a 6-1-2 slate during the OAC regular season and into the OAC Tournament semifinals. During their careers, the four-year senior standouts helped BW compile a 40-34-8 mark.

Arney played his fourth season of soccer and earned his fourth letter. He was one of the top defenders in the OAC and Ohio. Arney played in all 21 matches, took 18 shots, including nine on-goal, scored three goals and had six points. He also had one game-winning goal. A year ago, Arney, who carries a 3.656 grade point average, earned Academic All-OAC honors as well as All-Ohio accolades. During his career, he played in 77 games, took 47 shots, including 27 on-goal, scored seven goals for 14 points, and helped BW to record 14 shutouts.

Brennan, who carries a 3.86 grade average, played his fourth season of soccer and earned his fourth letter. He played and started all 21 games, ranked second with 35 shots taken, including a team-high-tying 20 on-goal, scored two goals and had a team-high eight assists for 12 total points. Brennan enteted his senior season as a two-time Academic All-OAC selection. During his career, he played in 71 contests, took 100 shots, including 56 on-goal, scored 12 goals and added 12 assists for 36 career points.

Smith, who carries a 3.71 grade average, played his fourth season of soccer and earned his fourth varsity letter. He played and started all 21 games, ranked third with 31 shots taken, third with 17 shots on-goal, scored five goals and added two assists for 12 points. He had one game-winner. Smith also earned Academic All-OAC honors as a junior. During his career, he played in 75 games, took 87 shots, including 44 on-goal, scored 10 goals and had six assists for 26 career points.
