BW drops Season-Opener to PS-Behrend to Hosts

Erie, Pa.-- The 2014 Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team dropped iys 2014 season-opener tonight to host Penn State- Behrend (Pa.) University, 3-0, in the first round of the annual Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament on the PS-Behrend Soccer Field.  The Yellow Jackets move into the consolation bracket with their loss.

Despite the loss, the Yellow Jackets (0-1) attempted seven shots on goal in the game.  

In the first half, the Lions (1-0) scored first when sophomore midfielder Sean Gallagher scored from the top of the box at the 12th minute of the match.  Senior defender Jimmy Belack was credited on the assist.

In the second half, the Lions converted increased their lead to 2-0 at the 52:41 mark when junior defender Mike Worthy scored in the left corner of the net.  Lions' Matt Baleno kicked the third goal of the match off of a tipped pass to close out the scoring and give Penn State- Behrend its 3-0 win.

For BW, junior goalkeeper Andrew Sismour (North Ridgeville, Ohio/ North Ridgeville) had three saves.

BW will be back in action on Saturday, August 30 when they play Houghton (N.Y.) College in the consolation match at 5:00 p.m.
