Kristina Fultz Named Women’s Volleyball Head Coach

BEREA, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University Director of Athletics Steve Thompson has announced the hiring of Kristina Fultz as the new women's volleyball head coach.

Fultz comes to BW after four years as an assistant at NCAA Division I United States Naval Academy. Her primary responsibilities included, but were not limited to, assisting the head coach with scouting, practice planning, devising game strategies along with running team film sessions, recruiting, monitoring conditioning and training of student-athletes, managing team travel arrangements, and overseeing all aspects of summer camps. 

"I would like to thank Steve Thompson, Associate Director of Athletics John Snell, and the rest of the search committee for the opportunity and privilege to lead this impressive program," Fultz said. "I am excited to continue building the legacy that is Baldwin Wallace volleyball and I feel honored to contribute to the development and growth of such a wonderful group of young women. I am thrilled to be starting my head coaching career in Berea and am looking forward to learning from many accomplished coaches within the department."

"She brings a high level of knowledge, passion and drive to BW and Berea. Kristina is a highly decorated competitor that has continued to grow professionally within the coaching ranks under several great mentors. She is committed to developing our scholar-athletes on the court and in life, and will continue to grow our program to compete within the Ohio Athletic Conference and nationally." 

During her time at Navy, Fultz, in her inaugural season, helped tie a Division I record for wins of any Mid-Major with a 23-9 mark. That same year, Navy went 13-3 in the Patriot League, advancing to the NCAA Tournament as conference tournament champions for the first time. In her tenure at Navy, she compiled 57 total wins as an assistant. 

Prior to Navy, Fultz spent two seasons as the Muskingum University Volleyball Graduate Assistant. The Fighting Muskies put together a 35-20 overall record in her two seasons on staff, which included a 20-6 record in 2017. Muskingum is where she completed her master's degree in Adult Education.

Fultz competed for the current Navy women's volleyball Head Coach Paco Labrador at Wittenberg University from 2012-15. While she played at the university, the Tigers went 110-21 overall which included two 29-win seasons in her junior and senior campaigns. She was team captain in her final two years and in 2015, she helped the Tigers to reach the NCAA Tournament National Championship match. Fultz was named to the NCAA All-Regional Tournament Team in 2014 and to the North Coast Athletic Conference All-Tournament team in 2015. 

Off the court at Wittenberg, she worked in multiple capacities including intramurals recreation manager, office assistant in the volleyball department, peer mentor, office assistant to the communication department, and worked in integrated media. Fultz graduated from Wittenberg with a degree in communications. 

Fultz will begin her duties as head coach on Tuesday, May 31 at BW. The Yellow Jackets open the season on the road at Cedar Point Sports Center on Friday, September 2 and Saturday, September 3 as the team takes on Smith (Mass.) College, Hope (Mich.) College, Grove City (Pa.) College, and Hanover (Ind.) College in four non-conference matches.
