Women’s Volleyball Receives 2022-23 USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award and Honor Roll Distinction

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Baldwin Wallace University women's volleyball team has been awarded the 2023 United States Marine Corps (USMC) and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for their successes in the classroom for the 2022-23 academic year. 

The award, initiated in the 1992–93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale.

BW women's volleyball team also received an additional unique award for academia, being awarded the Honor Roll distinction. The additional distinction of Team Academic Honor Roll celebrates programs in the top 20% of grade point averages (GPAs) for their division.

The Yellow Jackets earned a GPA of 3.69 in the 2022-23 academic year. Freshman Gabby Schlecht (Naperville, Ill./North) held a perfect 4.0 GPA during her first year, while Ashleigh Curtiss (Bolingbrook, Ill.), Nicole Logan (Hilliard/Darby), Isa Luciano (Willoughby/South), Lauren Reid (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) and Allison Weiner (Westerville/St. Francis DeSales) received Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors.

Luciano and Weiner also were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team.
