Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Hosts Harrison Dillard Twilight

BEREA, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University women's outdoor track and field team hosted the unscored Harrison Dillard Twilight for its last home meet of the season, hosted inside George Finnie Stadium. 

Junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC distance runner Alyssa Laughner (Howard, Pa./Central Mountain) shook up the national rankings by winning the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a career-best 10:46.95, which now ranks second nationally in the event. The junior came into the meet ranked 12th. Freshman All-OAC distance runner Hope Murphy (Mogadore) also climbed the national rankings by winning the 800-meter run in a career-best 2:13.45, which puts her 17th at the time of the meet after entering the day ranked 36th. Murphy then recorded a second event win on the day, running a career-best time of 4:37.42 to claim the 1,500-meter. The freshman was ranked outside of the top-50 in the 1,500 at the start of the meet and now ranks 20th in all of NCAA Division III. 

Two Yellow Jackets collected wins in the field between senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC thrower Brooke Buckhannon (Collins/Western Reserve) and sophomore All-OAC thrower Abby Rodriguez (Grandview, Wash./Prosser). Buckhannon recorded a career-best 182 feet, 10 inches to win the hammer throw, which puts her second nationally in the event. Rodriguez won the shot put with a mark of 40'4.75" while Buckhannon was the runner-up in the same event with a toss of 40'3.25". Both senior Academic All-OAC jumper Stephanie Magvas (Westlake/Magnificat) and sophomore jumper/sprinter Maddie Boltz (Medina/Cloverleaf) notched career bests that propelled them to runner-up finishes in their respective events. Magvas cleared 4'10.25" in the high jump and Boltz tossed 97'7" in the javelin throw. 

BW will next compete on Wednesday, May 19, at the University of Mount Union OAC Last Chance, hosted inside Mount Union Stadium.
