AUSTINTOWN, Ohio - Following her performance at the 2021 Ohio Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships, Baldwin Wallace University junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC distance runner Alyssa Laughner (Howard, Pa./Central Mountain) has been named the OAC Women's Outdoor Distance Athlete of the Year, as voted on by the league's coaches.

Laughner collected two All-OAC honors at the championship meet by winning the 3,000-meter steeplechase and placing third in the 5,000-meter run. The junior also ran the second leg of the 4x800-meter relay team that finished fifth overall.

Nationally, Laughner ranks 12th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and 26th in the 5,000-meter run.

This marks the first time in Laughner's career that she has been named Distance Athlete of the Year. She was the lone BW representative in the conference's postseason awards.

BW will host the Harrison Dillard Twilight for its last meet of the outdoor season on Friday, May 14, beginning at 2 p.m. inside George Finnie Stadium.
